Market/Audience Research Interview

The responses given from the interviewee suggest that my magazine should that I should keep the normative house style for my pop magazine such as including gossip at the latest pop artists aswell as interviews.

Alongside, keeping a standard colour scheme associated with the pop genre such as pink , blue and yellow however as my respondent stated that the pop genre gravitates towards females and males , I should keep the mix of different colours in mind to attract towards both gender's.

Final School Magazine Contents Page

Analysis of my Contents Page

In my contents page , the pictures and content information is illustrated as simple and easier for the reader to intake. Also , the use of the shortage of picture's allows the reader to take in the aspect of the pictures used. I could have improved my contents page by using an exchange for black for a vibrant colour alongside using a bold colour as the content page background.

Final School Magazine Front Cover

Analysis of my final front cover

My front cover proposed a good use of colour such as using yellow and blue which are vibrant and bright colour's which are pleasing to the eye. Alongside , the font size is shown as an accurate size of writing which is seen as inviting to the reader. Equally , the sell lines shown such as ''new exclusive contests inside'' are informative which correlates with the model's facial expression as she is shown as school is a great experience for her through the boxing action. I could have improved my front cover by using a better design for the headline. Equally , I could have used more graphics and font designs to emphasise my main image.

School Magazine Photoshoot Analysis

                                     Front Cover of Magazine

This photo will be used as my front cover where the model's facial expression is of a smiling face using the boxing gloves. I could improve this photo by increasing the brightness of the picture.

This photo will be included within my school magazine as a button or circle icon. This photo could be improve by fading out the background around the phone and hand which will make the phone as an object attention-grabbing.

School Magazine Planning Ideas

                    School Magazine Planning Ideas

What is the name of your magazine ? What are the connotations of the name ?

The name of my school magazine is 'BRAINBOX' which illustrates about the brain control of making being a student at college and how the brain changes to a developed format of subject as well as the new world that you are in from secondary school and academically working at your educational necessities to the best of your abilities.

What will be your front cover story and how will you visualise this?

My front cover will be model holding ' a boxing gloves" which will visualise the aspect of determination and working with your studies to the best of your abilities.

Who is your target audience?

My target audience is aimed towards the ages of 16-18 years who are currently at a-level stage.
The gender of both males and females is appropriate towards the concept of the magazine as I would like to propose the action of the importance of water during your studies as I believe that both men and women go through the stress's of academic life in a variety of ways.

What sort of shot will it be?

A mid-shot angle for the main image as it will capture the 'boxing' aspect as well as being a student which will be shown through the clothing of the sixth form uniform.

What mise-en-scene ?

The location would be outside using a clear white or black background as I will be using the main colours as blue and red which will allow the main image to stand out drastically. The clothing will be a standard sixth form uniform conforming to the school theme. The prop I will use for my main image will be a boxing gloves to connotate towards the headline of 'Study Knockout'.

What would be your headline and how will it match the main image ?

My headline would be 'Study Knockout' which would relate to the 'BRAINBOX' as it emphasises the magazine's aim in hope for students to put effort in their learning.

What colour scheme do you want and explain why?

The colour scheme of red, blue , white and black is appropriate for my magazine as it illustrates that vibrant and boldness is powerful in the education system.  Red projects the meaning of strength and determination which shows the belief of making it through your studies. Blue relates towards the peace and calmness aspect of the magazine to engage students to relieve stress of exams and coursework.

Education Magazine Analysis

                                           Magazine Analysis

What genre does this magazine cover ?

This genre of this magazine is Education which is specially aimed towards the concept of parents with children at independent schools.

What target audience is this magazine aimed at?

'Parents' are the target audience of this magazine as the strapline states 'helping you make the right choices for your children'. Which consolidates that this magazine is aimed at parents through the use of 'your'. Alongside the sell lines such as ' Anthony Seldon - How to raise a winner ' which offers advice of how to raise a successful child which is boldly engaged towards parents. Similarly the font that is used on the front cover of this magazine is mid-bold and large which is easily visible for the buyer to read which is applied to target buyers of 'parents'.

Do the conventions of this magazine subvert or use stereotypes?

This magazine uses stereotypes as the main image on the front cover appears to be two pupils doing their work. This conveys that students in private schools are stereotypically expected to achieve high grades alongside the female model used who has a calm expression of a smile which creates a tone that success of work in an independent school is of a  radiant experience.
Equally this magazine conforms stereotypes through the mini banners, for instance 'achievement' and 'win a luxury holiday with Virgin Experience Day' which engages the buyer of parents to acknowledge the attributes of what an independence school would offer to a child leading to academic success and also a parent to sympathize with them by offering them a holiday.

Would you consider the magazine as effective ?

The magazine is effective due to the masthead in this school magazine which illustrates a sense of professionalism through the clear Arial font. Also the masthead is the only logo in capital letters which is attention-grabbing stating ' independent school' which indicates that the school is indeed a private school.
Similarly the small contents on the top right corner of the magazine are used to give the buyer an overview of the main stories included in the magazine such as ' Charley Boorman - My School Days', which could be used as teaser articles since they include the page number as well as the title of the story , this is effective as it gives the target audience an inside into particular stories which are in interest of parents which they would view as enduring.
